History
Disability Action Council is the national coordination and advisory mechanism on disability issues which was established by the Royal Krom No. NS/RKM/0709/010, dated 3rd July 2009, upon the promulgation of the Law on the Protection and the Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The Prime Minister of Kingdom of Cambodia is the DAC’s Honorary President.
DAC is led by a President, who is the Minister in Charge of Social Affairs and 6 vice presidents who are Secretaries of State from Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation, Council of Ministers, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health and a representative of Disability Organizations who is a person with disability.
DAC composes of members from 15 line ministries who are Under Secretary of State and there are 3 other Institutions who are Deputy Secretary General, Representative of Cambodian Red Cross, Representatives of disable people organization who are persons with disabilities 4 persons, Representative of Non-Governmental Organization working for disability sector 1 person, Representative of employer 1 person, Deputy Governors of each Municial/Provincial and Secretary General 1 person is a permanent member.
Currently, DAC has total of 58 members who are nominated by the Government Decision.
