DAC joined the Workshop on “Establishment of a Network of Experts on Inclusive Entrepreneurship for ASEAN”, Bangkok
With the highest permission from His Excellency Vong Sauth, Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation and President of Disability Action Council (DAC); H.E Set Muhammadsis, Deputy Secretary General of DAC Secretariat General, has led 5 Cambodian delegates (3 NGOs, 1 private sector and 1 Government officer) to join the Workshop on “Establishment of a Network of Experts on Inclusive Entrepreneurship for ASEAN” on 5 - 9 August 2014 at Bangkok, Thailand. 50 participants from ASEAN state members, private sector and NGOs working on disability joined the workshop for finalizing the ToR to establish a Network of Experts on Inclusive Entrepreneurship for ASEAN leading to be envisaged to be an organization that will promote inclusive development, promote the participation of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in society, and support the growth of social entrepreneurship among ASEAN member states; in objective to:
- To provide a platform for ASEAN member states government officials, private sector representatives focusing on social enterprise, disabled people’s organizations and vulnerable groups and other stakeholders to exchange views, knowledge and implementation mechanisms on inclusive entrepreneurship through development of social entrepreneurship programs. These programs will address the human rights-based needs and empowerment of among others, out-of-school youth, older persons, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups, and in addition pursue research and development efforts.
- To promote and support the rights of out-of-school youth, older persons, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in the ASEAN community.
- To recognize and promote the ASEAN Decade of Persons with Disabilities (2011-2020): The Thematic Years to Promote Disability Inclusive Development in ASEAN.
- To enhance national, regional and international cooperation on the rights of vulnerable groups towards equal enjoyment of all human rights and equal opportunities for out-of-school youth, older persons, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
- To encourage ASEAN Member State to adopt policies and implement that will support the development of markets for products and services offered by organization of and for persons with disabilities, older persons, out-of-school youth and other vulnerable groups.
