His Excellency Em Chan Makara calls for relevant organizations in the disability sector to create non-governmental organization alliance

March 25, 2016, in the compound of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation, Secretariat General Disability Action Council organized a meeting with development partners and non-governmental organization in the sector of disability. The meeting was organized for the purpose of consultation and reviewing on progress of disability sector for the period of 2015-2016. His Excellency Em Chan Makara, Secretary General, is the chair of the meeting and the meeting was participated by His Excellency Yi Veasna, Vice President of Disability Action Council and together with representatives from non-governmental organizations and international organizations was about 60 organizations.

His Excellency Em Chan Makara, Secretary General Disability Action Council, called for all relevant civil society in the sector of disability in Cambodia should organize and create a committee or NGOs Alliance for the Rights of People with Disabilities. It is a representative of People with Disabilities and all organizations working for the rights of People with Disabilities in the disability sector.

His Excellency Em Chan Makara continued that the idea to create committee or NGOs Alliance for Rights of People with Disabilities, that can enhance quality of work in the disability sector. Through this committee or NGOs Alliance for Rights of People with Disabilities, People with Disabilities get additional benefits, and they are enabled to comment or request to the Royal Government of Cambodia, the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation, or Disability Action Council. Thus, there is a strong mechanism can effectively solve the issues of People with Disabilities. Also, committee or NGOs Alliance for Rights of People with Disabilities will become a bylaw organization to write shadow report on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities. etc.

Notice, other sectors in Cambodia such as women affairs sector, child sector, or human rights sector, has representative of non-governmental organization, and they have created Alliance for each sector. However, in disability sector, yet, does not have committee or NGOs Alliance for Rights of People with Disabilities.
