His Excellency Vong Soth: the Royal Government of Cambodia considers disability sector as the most important sectors in many others

His Excellency Vong Soth, Minister of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation and the President of Disability Action Council stated on April 04, 2016. The Royal Government of Cambodia considered disability sector as one of the most important sectors in many others. Via the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD) of the United Nations, the Royal Government of Cambodia defined Rectangular Strategy stage 3 on the implementation of disability policy. Thus, through Disability Action Council, the Royal Government of Cambodia can strengthen the implementation of the Law on the Protection and the Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and can strengthen quality and effectiveness of services for the Disability Foundation.

The statement of His Excellency Vong Soth was stated in the event of international autism and down syndromes 2016 on the topic “formal and informal education ensures the independence of people with intellectual disability” which was held at the Bun Rany Hun Sen Regional Pedagogy School Takhmao in the morning of April 04, 2016.

Mr. Excellency Vong Soth continued, welfares of People with Disabilities have been considered by all milieus, and People with Disabilities are prioritized in recruitment and appointment to work for 40 ministries and state institutions.

His Excellency Vong Soth suggested to relevant agents for a strategy, that all relevant agents should keep continuing to implement all International Conventions, that Cambodia have already rectified and continue to implement on the Protection and the Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and logical frameworks and other procedures. This should be a change from theory to real practice to support People with Disabilities. All agents also should develop more human resources; especially, teachers and professors of primary school to tertiary school, for they have ability to teach and lecture people with intellectual disability in the purpose of offer opportunity to people with intellectual disability; so, they have equal rights in education.

His Excellency Vong Soth continued that, Disability Action Working Group (DA/WG) in all relevant ministries, institutions, and the Provincial and Municipal Disability Action Council have the duties to coordinate for consultation and integrate the National Disability Strategic Plan (NDSP) 2014-2016 into their own ministry and institution action plan, for, they can effectively implement NDSP. His Excellency encourages ministries, state institutions, and private sector to recruit and select People with Disabilities to work for compliance to sub-decree on quota system of selection of People with Disabilities to for 2% for public institutions and 1% for private sector.
