Workshop on the elimination all forms of discrimination against women with disabilities
His Excellency Em Chan Makara, Secretary General Disability Action Council, shown high mindedness and thank to the Royal Government of Cambodia favors to staff of Royal Government who are disable can start to work late and leave office early than their administrative time. According to sub-decree of the Royal Government No 56 RNRK.BK, dated on April 1, 2016 about working time of public civil servants of the Royal Government and the contract staff, allow staff with disabilities to take maximum 1 hour for their personality; for, they can come late to work or leave their job earlier. This shows an additional carrying and encouragement of the Royal Government to Persons with Disabilities who have duties for the Royal Government of Cambodia.
The statement of His Excellency Em Chan Makara was stated during the opening remark of a workshop on the topic “elimination all forms of discrimination against women with disabilities” which was organized by the Ministry of Women Affair on April 07, 2016 at the Hotel Cambodiana, under the preside of Her Excellency Dr. Oeung Kantha Phavy, Minister and the Honor President Disability Action Working Group (DA/WG) of the Ministry of Women Affairs.
His Excellency Em Chan Makara requested to the Ministry of Women Affairs for contribution and implementation National Disability Strategic Plan (NDSP) 20`14-2018 by bring in the ninth strategic goal of NDSP into action plan of the Ministry of Women Affairs which is the same as Cambodian National Council Group for Women.
His Excellency Secretary General added that, women with disabilities and girls with disabilities should be equally and fully treated the same as essential human rights and liberty via the implementation policies relate to women and girls with disabilities.
Mr. Secretary General also called for a consideration to have capable women with disabilities as the representative can make decision making in the institutions of Royal Government. So, that is a development for women with disabilities, and they can have full rights and empowerment; thus, women and girls with disabilities have rights and liberty in development by they are prioritized in policies and strategies of Royal Government.
His Excellency Em Chan Makara also called to all relevant institutions to promote rights and opportunity for women and female teens with disabilities; for, they can have basic sexual health care and reproduction health care as it is a culture for women and female teens with disabilities. Likewise, the promotion of the rights of women with disabilities, women and female teens should be ensured to get equal pay, equal salary, and equal job opportunity.
