His Excellency Em Chan Makara thanks Samdech Decho HUN Sen for his approval to allow people with disabilities to provide musical entertainment along Wat Phnom Area

On the six of December 2016, his Excellency Em Chan Makara, Secretary General of the Secretariat Disability Action Council, declared congratulations and thankfulness to Cambodian prime-minister Samdech Decho HUN Sen for his approval to allow people with disabilities to continue providing street music entertainment at the Wat Phnom area. 

His decision aims to support people who live with disabilities to be better income generators and to stop them to play their music along the street, particularly at the traffic light areas. 

“From now on, People with Disabilities who use to sing along the street as well as at every traffic light areas in Phnom Penh need to stop worrying anymore because they are given favorable attention by Samdech Decho prime minister, and that he offered the   wat Phnom area for playing music to generate income for their proper daily living,” he said. 

“When they start doing so, it will help prevent traffic jams and also provide safe area for them,” he added.   

His Excellency Em Chan Makara also expressed: “This is real proof of the great responsibility of prime minister Samdech Decho HUN sen, who always takes his citizens into consideration, especially People with Disabilities.” As such, all People with Disabilities are appeased with the offering and will stop playing music at undesignated places anymore. 

“Although the municipal authority has banned people with disabilities, they still remained at the undesignated places and still complained of not having a better place to earn their income,” commented His Excellency Em Chan Makara.  

As a reminder, on the commemoration of both the 18th Cambodian Day for Persons with Disabilities and the 34th International Day of Persons with Disabilities, at Koh Pich Center conducted on the morning of six December 2016, it was then that Prime Minister Samdech Decho decided to offer the Wat Phnom area for people with disabilities to showcase their music. “Please mobilize and minimize all the groups into five at least,” he suggested.
