Flinders University in Australia new program on disability

In the afternoon of July 24, 2013 at MoSVY H.E. Ung Sambath, Deputy Director of DAC-SG representative of H.E. Em Chan Makara, Executive Director of DAC-SG had a meeting with Dr Caroline Ellison, Department of Disability and Community Inclusion Director and a Senior lecturer of Social Science at Flinders University in Australia.

Dr Caroline Ellison expressed the purpose of the meeting was providing information on disability and province scholarships to Cambodian students to participant in the training on disability at Flinders University in Australia.

Dr. Ellison said she was visiting to collect data on disability to organize a new program on disability at the University. The program would take 2months and the final plan completed at the end of October 2013. The Scholarship planned to provide 25seats for Cambodian students and 8weeks to participant in training on disability at Flinders University in Australia. When asked about the language challenge she replied, the language training will be coordinated for Cambodian students to provide accessibility to them during the training.

She met Cambodia Trust (CT) and DAC-SG to learn “what are the topics that should be studied?” She clarified the program plan for people who are working with persons with disabilities only.

H.E. explained about the background DAC and achievements, especially increasing effort on disability issues and persons with disabilities of RGC under leadership of SamdachThecho Hun Sen Prime Minister of Kingdom of Cambodia and Host President of DAC.

H.E. explained DAC growth and that now DAC is a senate secretary of the royal government on disability under management of H.E. Dr. IthSamheng, Minister of MoSVY and President of DAC.

Finally, H.E. Ung Sambath thanked Dr Ellison and Flinders University for the scholarship opportunity and training related to disability for Cambodian students and for the language accessibility they planned to provide to them during the training.
