Cambodia’s Disability Action Council is encouraging governors around the country to enhance inclusiveness for persons with disabilities. The General Secretariat of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities partnered with the United Nations Development Program on Thursday to organise “Planning Skills” training for the Disability Action Councils in five of the kingdom’s provinces. The Head of the Australia-Cambodia Cooperation Program for Sustainable and Equitable Services also attended the meeting

Australia is working with Cambodia on the implementation of the country’s new Disability Law. It has been helping to support Cambodians with disabilities for over ten years. The Australian Human Rights Commission met with Secretary of State in the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, Mr. Em Chan Makara, on Friday morning, who is also Secretary-General of the Disability Action Council.

H.E. Em Chan Makara, Secretary General of the Disability Action Council, said that as a representative of persons with disabilities, he fully supported the request of the Royal Government of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who has talk to the public for stopping any forms of discrimination against Cambodian people with disabilities.

H.E. Em Chan Makara, Secretary General of Disability Action Council and former Chairman of the Cambodian Children's Committee, announced the donation of 10 months of his own salary (USD 5,000) to Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation in response to the call of the Head of Cambodian Government, Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

His Excellency Em Chan Makara, Secretary General of Disability Action Council (DAC), Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY) on 6th of April 2018, said that the Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and Down Syndrome received supports and got the encouragement from Cambodian Government and many other related NGOs. His Excellency Em Chan Makara, added more that Persons with Intellectual, Autism and Down Syndrome need the necessary care and motivate with them in their daily lives without ignoring.
