On the 15th of December 2016, His Excellency HUN Many - President of the Union of Youth Federation of Cambodia - attended the Marathon for a society free from disability. This marathon was organised by collaborating with the Ministry of social affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation; Union of Youth Federation of Cambodia; Disability Action Council; partner organisations and the private sector, to commemorate both the 18th Cambodian Day for Persons with Disabilities and the 34th International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event was conducted at Olympic Stadium with over 1500 participants.

Samdach Decho Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia has proposed to the television stations and restaurants invited people with disabilities to sing for their programs and do not discriminate them. Samdach Decho Hun Sen mentioned that by doing that activity, it will help to assist their difficulties and also help to avoid them singing at the traffic light stops in Phnom Penh (listen his speech in video records).

On the six of December 2016, his Excellency Em Chan Makara, Secretary General of the Secretariat Disability Action Council, declared congratulations and thankfulness to Cambodian prime-minister Samdech Decho HUN Sen for his approval to allow people with disabilities to continue providing street music entertainment at the Wat Phnom area.

H.E Vong Soth, Minister of Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation has told Mrs. Rhona Smith, Special reporter of the United Nation that the Ministry has cooperated with Phnom Penh Capital hall in order to improve many infrastructure as well as providing health care to homeless people and people with mental retardation who are staying at Prey Speu Social affairs Centre. Human rights Organization and NGOs could go and visit the Centre 24/7. This is according to H.E Em Chan Makara’s word on October 12th 2016, Spokesman of Ministry of Social affairs.

H.E Vong Soth, Minister of Ministry of social affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation and also the chairman of Disability Action Council has said that “Cambodian Government has recognized the important of the participation of People with disabilities in the development of our country. If we can invest in people with disabilities, it mean that our country is rich in human resource and could compete on both national and international market”.
